CREATRIX warmly welcomes you to our Global Kāinga – to our ever-increasing extended Whānau / Family who are passionate about preserving our Indigenous languages and cultures throughout the world - and who embrace technologies that can make that happen.
OUR VISION is to create innovative and expressive
new technologies with Indigenous peoples around the world,
to help in the preservation of languages,
and enhance cultural, social and economic aspirations.
The team from CREATRIX now are very pleased to bring you the
HAKAMANA Māori/English Multilingual Computer Keyboard
This exciting keyboard system is unique in that its layout of letters/keys follows the way we teach and learn the Māori language. It comprises specialist software that interfaces with the keyboard layout, with designer key top labels offering all of the letters in the Māori alphabet including the macronised vowels (ā ē ī ō ū), digraphs (ng wh), and key prefixes/words (whaka, mana, kia, ora). These are in accordance with the orthographic conventions detailed by the Māori Language Commission. It also includes an extensive dictionary / word list and function switch key to enable moving freely between both the HAKAMANA and the QWERTY keyboards.
